Deramakot offers one of Sabah’s best destinations for wildlife spotting. It has been documented that about 75% of mammals in Sabah can be found within this forest reserve such as Orang Utan, Bornean Gibbon, Pygmy Elephants, Tembadau (Banteng), including five species of the Bornean Cats which are the elusive Sunda Clouded Leopard, Marbled Cat, Bornean Bay Cat, Flat-headed Cat and Leopard Cat.
ITINERARY:
DAY 01

Pick up at your hotel in Kota Kinabalu. Drive for 5 hours to reach Telupid (lunch in a local restaurant) and then travel for 2 more hours on dirt and gravel road to reach the entrance of Deramakot before 5pm. We will be wildlife spotting here for about 3 days.

From the entrance, continue the journey (gentle drive) for another 42 km to see active wildlife during dusk time. After dinner proceed with wildlife drive at night. Overnight at Deramakot Chalet.
DAY 02 and DAY 03

Wake up call at 4am. Enjoy wildlife drive at dawn before breakfast. Free and easy until late afternoon. Then proceed for wildlife drive at dusk. After dinner proceed with wildlife drive at night. Overnight at Deramakot Chalet.
DAY 04

After breakfast, pack your stuffs and travel back to Kota Kinabalu city (or continue your journey to Sandakan). Lunch in a local restaurant.
